Maintaining your oral health isn’t just about brushing and flossing—it also means visiting your dentist and hygienist regularly. But how often is regularly, exactly?
At City Gardens Dental, we generally recommend:
-
Dental check-ups every 6 to 12 months, depending on your oral health and risk factors
-
Professional hygiene appointments every 6 months to remove plaque, tartar, and stains that brushing alone can’t reach
Routine dental check-ups allow us to detect early signs of issues like tooth decay, gum disease, bite changes, or worn restorations—before they become more serious. Your dentist will also monitor changes in soft tissue, carry out routine oral health screenings, and assess jaw function and bite alignment.
Hygiene visits, meanwhile, focus on prevention. Our hygienists use gentle, thorough techniques (including AirFlow technology) to clean your teeth and gums, helping prevent gum disease, tooth loss and bad breath. They also offer tailored advice on brushing, flossing and home-care routines—particularly valuable for children, orthodontic patients or those with implants.
Some patients—especially those with a history of gum disease, high decay risk, or other medical conditions—may need to come in more frequently. Others may safely maintain a 12-month schedule. We’ll always tailor our recommendations to your needs.
Regular visits help us keep your smile healthy, your treatment needs minimal, and your peace of mind intact. If it’s been a while since your last check-up or clean, we’d love to see you. Contact us today to book your next appointment.
